The Academy courtyard is set to be transformed into an outdoor pop-up bar this summer, littered with fairy lights and plenty of picnic tables.
Cocktail catering company 10 Dollar Shake will launch the summer-long outdoor drinking terrace on Saturday, with the al fresco drinking installation open each weekend from midday until late.
Nicknamed Little Shake, the pop-up will feature a garden installation complete with trees, fairy lights, picnic tables and a temporary built in bar, as well as a marquee in case the temperamental Scottish weather takes a turn.
Organised by Diane Marshall, manager of the company’s Tippling House cocktail bar and restaurant, the pop-up has drawn inspiration from the popular refreshment tents at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Diane, pictured above, said: "We wanted to bring that sense of buzz to Aberdeen and create an outdoor space for people to enjoy in the sunny weather.
"We plan to offer various different activities and entertainment on special weekends. For example, we will host barbecues with the Eat Beetroot team who are behind the Adelphi Kitchen and The Courtyard."
Aware of the ever-changing weather in Aberdeen over the past few weeks, Diane added: "Our bars Bos’n and Rye & Soda are in The Academy shopping centre and will be on hand if the heavens open up."
As part of the pop-up, Latin American themed bar Bos’n will run complimentary events on bank holiday weekends in partnership with local promoters Majestik and Trash Disco, with drinks brands such as Opihr Gin also hosting an event and bringing along a tuk tuk for the ride.
A special summer menu of cocktails, slushies, draught lagers and ciders, craft beer and sparkling wines have also been concocted for the outdoor bar.
Diane added: "I think we've designed a space that can have multiple uses and will attract people at all times of the day."
Little Shake will open every Saturday and Sunday until September 20. More information can be found on the 10 Dollar Shake Facebook page.
