Now that the summer has finally arrived, how do you fancy creating your own ice cream?
That's the opportunity which an Aberdeenshire company is offering its customers throughout the school holidays.
Barra Berries, a family-run business on the outskirts of Oldmeldrum, has officially launched a pop-up summer shop on their premises, complete with a state-of-the-art ice-cream maker.
The Flavorama Machine, which is the first of its kind in Scotland, allows the public to combine a blend of fresh berries with ice-cream and looks set to be a popular gizmo.
The pop-up venture also coincides with local food and drink festival, Feast North East, which celebrates local retailers, restaurants, farmers and producers from the Inverurie and surrounding area, will run from July until the end of August.
Sarah Stephen, co-owner of Barra Berries, said: “Scottish berries are nutritious and tasty, and have some great health-giving properties within them.
"We are extremely passionate about our produce and the industry we operate in and it is exciting to be able to bring this new experience to our customers."
She added: “The pop-up shop has been a huge success so far and we’ve had visitors from all over the North-east visit us to try out our bespoke, made to order ice cream.
"It is created by the Flavorama machine right in front of our customers' eyes. It’s a great invention and works extremely well for us, especially with this fantastic weather.
“It can be difficult entertaining kids during the summer holidays, and the ice-cream machine is perfect – not only will it educate youngsters, but they can also enjoy a healthy treat.”
Embracing Scotland’s year of Food and Drink, Feast North East is currently hosting over 50 events in the area. For more information about Feast North East and details on how to participate in the festival, visit www.feastnortheast.org.
Barra Berries has also recently launched Scotland’s first Berry Trail, which provides information on more than 33 berry farmers across the country, to coincide with Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink month, summer berries and fruit.
