The Adelphi Kitchen will reopen two months after a devastating fire forced the restaurant to close.
The Adelphi Lane restaurant was hit by a devastating blaze on June 3, which saw the kitchen completely destroyed due to smoke damage.
But following two months of repairs, refits and redesigns, the barbecue restaurant has announced it will reopen to the public in time for the lunch trade on July 27.
Managing director and executive head chef Chris Tonner said: "We really are desperate to just get back in the kitchen.
"We’ve all been on a bit of journey since the fire, there was a very morbid feeling but the process of rebuilding the kitchen has almost brought everyone together.”
Forced to close the restaurant for seven weeks while the damaged kitchen was ripped out and floors replaced, The Adelphi Kitchen kept cooking in the city centre, hosting a pop up restaurant within The Tippling House in June.
Now the team are delighted to finally get back into the redesigned kitchen, which has been enhanced with natural lighting, a smoother layout and exciting new appliances for staff to get to grips with, including a brand new smoker from America, the first model of its kind to come to the UK.
Mr Tonner said: "[Following the fire] it basically gave us a chance to step back and look over the past year and a half to see what aspects of the kitchen were strong and what we could improve on.
"We inherited La Stella, and for five years we added things to the kitchen like Lego blocks, but now it’s a much better design and a better use of the space."
Now the 15-strong team will return to the restaurant this week following stints in outdoor catering and at sister restaurant The Courtyard to enjoy a new menu tasting session as well as trying a new drinks menu devised for the reopening.
And once the restaurant is back on its feet, Mr Tonner hinted that Adelphi Kitchen will look to become bigger and better than ever, with a potential AK Takeaway service in the pipeline.
But for now, The Adelphi Kitchen is focused on bringing back its popular Tray Tasters, AK burgers and signature ‘dirty’ charcoal cooked steaks for Aberdeen diners.
